About Bentley Maddox

I am a Webby Award-winning, Los Angeles-based writer and editor for E! News. Born and raised in Alabama, I attended The University of Alabama where I earned a B.S. in Marketing and an M.A. in Communication Studies.

After graduate school, I moved to New York City to join the legendary NBCUniversal Page Program where I worked on-set at the TODAY Show—amongst other productions—supporting talent, stage managers and producers. Following my time in the Program, I was a Researcher for the Webby Award-winning NBC News project Plan Your Vaccine, where I wrote and edited copy for over 4 million readers.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2021 to be the Deputy Editor & Booking Producer for Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist Maria Shriver’s company Shriver Media, an organization focused on producing content that “moves humanity forward.” Our tentpole project was The Sunday Paper, a weekly publication featuring original reporting and lifestyle news read by over 300,000 subscribers. In addition to editing the entire Paper, I pitched story ideas, wrote multiple short- and long-form pieces and booked talent, from authors and celebrities to local community leaders.

I most recently worked at NBCUniversal as an Associate Producer for NBC Entertainment Marketing where I supported the team responsible for the network's on-air promos. In this role, I served as the communications liaison and media manager for our creative teams and the production studios.

I currently write full-time for E! News as an associate writer and editor. In this role, I write articles daily that cover all topics of entertainment news, from the Kardashian family to premiere awards coverage and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

My freelance work has included producing an artist’s digital interview series where I pitched  conversation topics, performed research, created a run of show, and produced a live weekly broadcast.

In addition to my experience as a journalist, I am also a writer of personal essays and pop culture reviews. I am open to and seeking any and all writing opportunities.
